The Department for Development and Economic Cohesion is the body of the Ministry of Economic Development responsible for the planning and management of funds for disadvantaged areas of the Italian territory.
Availing itself of its full managerial autonomy regarding its computer network within the Ministry, the Department has been using Sentinet3® for over a year in order to meet its absolute need to control what has become a situation of considerable complexity, as confirmed by Dr. Massimo Vanni, Head of the Departmental Processing Systems office: "Our work covers both the hardware and software management and the support of the Department's approximately 500 users. The management complexity also stems from the fact that we have central servers are running Windows, Linux and Unix Aix, and that we also use a Mainframe platform. In light of this, it was essential to implement a monitoring system to control the operation and continuity of literally hundreds of services".
After careful evaluation, the choice fell on Sentinet3®, which promised to be the right product for our departmental needs for a number of reasons.
"With Sentinet3®, it was love at first sight!" says Dr. Vanni "because it met our needs perfectly. Moreover, and of no less importance to us, it suited the Department’s financial resources. Above all, however, we were impressed with the product’s reliability and ease of use. Over the last year, our management has undergone some changes and Sentinet3® has shown itself to be perfectly able to cope with infrastructure and machine park increases".
The future is going to bring yet another expansion of the Department’s use of Sentinet3®:
A year after Sentinet3®’s introduction the Department for Development and Economic Cohesion has a more than positive view of it: "Today, Sentinet3® makes it possible for our IT staff to spend their time more positively working on critical project tasks, while resting assured that emergencies will be reported in real time making it possible to take timely and effective decisions towards restoring services".
