Sentinet³ Core · Operations

Multi-site and federation

Monitor sites, data centres and remote systems while keeping a coordinated view of the whole.

A distributed organisation, a coordinated view

Sentinet³ Core is also designed for infrastructures spread across multiple sites and technology domains. Monitoring can be organised so that host groups, maps and operational roles reflect the geographical and technical structure of the organisation.

  • Host groups, maps and roles that mirror the organisation
  • From the overall view down to a single site, rack and service
  • Physical or virtual appliances, deployed as required

Central view and local scope

Coordinate without losing detail

The console and maps aggregate information from different locations and let you move from the overall view to a single site. Local systems are still described by checks, thresholds, notifications and history, while centralised views support the coordination of activities and the understanding of widespread events.

Federated situational awareness

Different domains, a single operational visibility

Federation provides a coordinated view of distributed environments, useful when infrastructure domains belong to different sites, organisational levels or management perimeters. The aim is to unify operational visibility without losing the detail needed to act on an individual system.

Deployment options

A deployment designed around the installation

Adoption can take place through physical or virtual appliances and distributed configurations, depending on the volume of checks, the topology and the operating requirements.

Choosing the deployment is part of the design, together with:

  • network segmentation;
  • permission management;
  • notification channels.

Scenario

Multi-site connectivity failure

Several services at one site become unavailable within the same interval. The topology view, interface checks and geo-referenced maps help tell the failure of a shared device apart from the unavailability of individual systems. Escalation routes the event to the group responsible for connectivity.
